I believe that therapy is a journey of self-discovery and growth. My ideal clients are adolescents and adults navigating challenges with anxiety, depression, substance use, and life transitions. I'm also passionate about working with athletes, performers, and professionals who want to build mental resilience and optimize their performance. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, valued, and empowered. I have a wide range of experience, including sport and performance psychology, LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, and helping clients with identity development. Together, we can explore your goals and take meaningful steps toward the life you want to create. If you're ready to begin this journey, I invite you to connect with me.
I believe that healing involves the mind, body and soul. I focus primarily on relational methods, as I believe that the therapeutic bond is a place to practice and explore new ways of connecting, being vulnerable, feeling emotions, receiving care, and building self-awareness. My main methods of therapy are Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM), both of which focus on using relationship to bring out each individual’s self-righting tendencies and heal past wounds.. I also am certified in EMDR and the DIR/Floortime developmental play therapy model. I have training in various parenting and family therapy methods, including Circle of Security and Developmental Dyadic Psychotherapy. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish from Miami University in Ohio, an MBA from Northwestern University in Evanston, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. My Colorado license is #9925261. I am lucky to be married to a wonderful husband and have three boys, all beginning their journey into adulthood. I love to hike, read, and sit by the firepit with friends and family.
Hi my name is Laura, I am a therapist located in Colorado. I see clients in Illinois and Colorado. I help people feeling overwhelmed, unhappy and unsure about situations in their life. I love working with College students. College can be such an exciting time for some, and for others it can be very confusing and stressful. If you are feeling unhappy, overwhelmed, or dealing with a social or family situation I would love to help you! Please reach out to me via email or phone and we can talk about the next steps.
Finding a therapist can feel overwhelming, but with the right one by your side, true healing can begin. As a clinical social worker specializing in individual psychotherapy, my goal is to make that process feel a little less daunting by offering a collaborative, supportive space where you can show up as you are. My work centers on older adolescents and adults navigating mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression, as well as those moving through life transitions, grief, loss, or anticipated loss. As a queer clinician, providing identity-affirming care is also central to my practice, particularly for those exploring sexuality and gender, or who face systemic barriers to self-expression and self-actualization. If you choose to work together and the connection feels right, I'm confident we can do meaningful work. My approach is strengths-based, relational, and grounded in a person-in-environment perspective, which means I consider you within the greater context of your life, your relationships, and the systems that shape your daily experience. All of my work is rooted in a social justice framework, and a deep belief in every person's inherent dignity and worth. Together, we'll explore the events and relationships — both past and present — that inform how you move through the world, building deeper self-understanding and self-compassion along the way. You can expect a warm, accepting, and responsive environment where the therapeutic approach is tailored to your unique needs and preferences. That often means blending meaningful self-reflection with a growing toolkit of practical skills and techniques you can carry with you outside of our sessions. Before becoming a therapist, nearly a decade was spent working as a professional musician, an experience that instilled a deep appreciation for the courage and vulnerability that authentic self-expression requires. Sitting with our emotions, sharing them, and exploring them can feel scary, but it can also be genuinely beautiful, opening doors to connection and self-discovery that might otherwise stay closed. At my core, connecting with people has always been what drives me. That's why authentic curiosity, empathy, and an open mind are things I bring to every interaction. My education, lived experiences, and professional background all converge in service of one goal: creating a space where you can work toward better understanding yourself and expressing who you truly are. Outside of the therapy room, you'll find me singing, traveling, or cooking and baking for the people I love. Shared meals with friends and family are something I treasure deeply, as are deep belly laughs and adventures with my husband and our dog, Bagel.
I’m Dr. Amy Syper, a licensed psychologist and founder of Strength in Becoming. As a dancer I have seen and experienced the damaging effects of body image distress and eating concerns along with the healing powers of dance. I specialize in eating disorder treatment and have worked with adolescents and adults with eating disorders at all levels of care- from inpatient hospitalization to outpatient therapy. I am passionate about helping clients build a safe and supportive relationship with their body. In addition to “talk therapy” I offer dance/movement therapy sessions to help clients strengthen their mind-body connection, build new insights into emotional experiences, and improve self-esteem. I also have experience working in college counseling centers, supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, relationship stress, identity exploration, ADHD, and executive functioning. College is like a pressure cooker of compounding transitions. On top of demanding coursework, you are likely navigating the intense world of identity exploration. This can mean a lot of things; from the deeply personal layers of discovering your sexual orientation and gender identity, to simply figuring out who you are as an individual and what you actually want out of romantic and sexual relationships. As a queer therapist, I intimately understand the unique difficulties of navigating these shifts. I have walked this path myself, personally navigating profound changes in my own sexual orientation and gender identity, and I know how isolating it can feel to explore these core parts of yourself while trying to maintain your GPA. It is incredibly common to feel stuck in a major or career track that feels entirely wrong, paralyzed by the fear of starting over. I know that panic firsthand. I spent years working as a software developer before a season of deep introspection and counseling gave me the courage to make a massive pivot. Today, I am in a field I love deeply; one that brings me genuine passion far beyond a paycheck. If you are feeling misaligned with your current path, I offer specialized career counseling to help you cut through the external expectations, decode your true strengths, and confidently identify a professional field that actually fits your authentic self. Whether you are drowning in academic stress, untangling painful relationship patterns, processing trauma, or facing a complete directional pivot, you do not have to figure it out alone. Together, we will address the practical mechanics of stress management while diving deep into the relational dynamics that keep you stuck. I provide an encouraging, explicitly inclusive, and safe space where no topic is too messy or taboo. Your college years can feel incredibly destabilizing, but our work together will help you build the self-trust and clarity needed to step out of survival mode and into a life that is genuinely, authentically your own.
Hi there! My name is Lizzy, and I’m so glad you’re here. As a Highly Sensitive Person, I’m passionate about working with individuals who feel things deeply—those who are attuned to their environments, sensitive to others’ emotions, and sometimes struggle to regulate their own big feelings. I also support people who experience anxiety, including situational anxiety. Maybe you don’t feel anxious all the time, but you notice it spiking in certain situations—like when meeting new people, navigating your romantic life, or worrying about failing or disappointing others. I have extensive experience working with individuals whose brains are still developing their emotional regulation skills, and I truly love what I do. This work not only helps me continue to grow as a professional, but also supports others in building resilience, self-awareness, and authenticity.

As a Clinical Social Work Candidate and Addictions Counselor Candidate, I specialize in mental health support and dual-diagnostic treatment for adults and adolescents. This support includes helping patients navigate co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, stress and anxiety, perfectionism, emotion-regulation difficulties, and challenges in relationships or daily functioning. My experience also extends to supporting previously incarcerated individuals as they navigate their reintegration process. No matter what you’re facing, we develop practical skills together for managing symptoms, creating meaningful life changes, and strengthening your relationships and self-understanding. I believe in meeting you wherever you are in each moment, whether you're processing challenges, celebrating strengths, building skills, or exploring new goals. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting your journey! My clinical approach is trauma-informed and holistic, recognizing the interconnectedness of your values, relationships, and life experiences. Using skills-based, strengths-based, and emotion-focused interventions, I support your healing and lasting change in a warm, goal-oriented space grounded in empathy and validation for your unique experience. While I draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I tailor interventions to align with your values, life context, and goals. My path to becoming a therapist grew from my own lived experience with mental health and a genuine passion for connection and growth. Volunteer work alongside my clinical experience has also deepened my understanding of our shared humanity, regardless of what we’ve been through or where we come from, and strengthened my commitment to compassionate, trauma-informed care. This combination of lived experience and clinical practice allows me to provide you with meaningful care. I love traveling, exploring cute coffee shops and restaurants, golfing, board game nights, and anything involving quality time with friends and family.
Let's be honest; it's HARD to find a culturally sensitive therapist who understands what it's like to navigate life as a person of color, especially in the state of Colorado. How do you explain your deep love and respect for certain aspects of your culture while at the same time, acknowledge your disdain for the harmful parts of it? How do you sort through the trauma of not having your emotional needs met as a child while still feeling grateful for your parents' best attempts at loving you? How do you process the desire to assimilate into the dominant culture while not wanting to fully abandon important elements of your identity? As a first-generation American born to ethnically Chinese immigrants from Southeast Asia, I understand the joys and frustrations that can come from navigating life between multiple cultures. It is from this lived experience that my passion for supporting others who find themselves in the in-between spaces of their various backgrounds and identities was born. I am especially passionate about supporting other adult children of immigrants, multicultural individuals, transracial adoptees, and BIPOC folks of all cultural backgrounds. I am also Theraplay-trained and offer play therapy to children, with a specific focus on adoptees and little ones who need extra support navigating their big emotions.
Thank you so much for taking the time to explore my practice. My emphasis is on young adults who struggle with social, emotional, behavioral difficulties and relationship issues. These struggles include depression, low self-esteem, self-injury, anxiety, peer pressure, family difficulties, friend and peer difficulties, bullying, substance use, or academic achievement challenges. I also enjoy working with student athletes. I am committed to creating a safe and comfortable environment without judgment or assumption. My relaxed and inviting approach allows me to focus on my clients current needs and create realistic goals. I strive to ensure you are getting what you need out of our time together.

Whether you're navigating the aftermath of trauma; finding your footing in a new city, state, or country; or sitting with grief, anxiety, or questions about who you are, you don't have to figure it out alone. As an LPC candidate with three years of experience, my work centers on helping people process trauma, move through major life transitions, and build lives that feel meaningful and aligned with their values. Survivors of trauma, sexual violence, domestic abuse, and natural disasters are at the heart of my practice, and so are immigrants and refugees working to build a new life in a new culture. Beyond trauma recovery, support is available for grief and loss; questions related to sex, sexuality, and relationships; and the very real anxiety that can come from living through climate change and other global stressors. Many of the people who come to me are trying therapy for the very first time, and finding practical, tangible ways to improve daily life is something we work toward together from the start. Therapy is also available in Spanish for those who prefer it. This is your process, and collaboration is at the center of everything we do together. The therapeutic space we build will be safe, transparent, and gently challenging – a place where growth feels possible without pressure. Drawing primarily from EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy, my work is tailored to help you process trauma, reconnect with your body and values, and shift beliefs and patterns that are no longer serving you. When a particular approach or intervention seems useful, the reasoning behind it will always be shared with you, and your feedback shapes what comes next. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to help that self-expertise shine through, and to make sure the practical strategies we build together are ones you can actually use beyond our sessions to make lasting, meaningful improvements in your daily life. I know what it's like to not have all the answers right away. My path to becoming a therapist didn't begin until my mid-thirties, after years of different careers, different countries, and many different versions of the question “who am I?” Those years of exploration ultimately made it clearer than ever that this work is what was meant for me. All of these varied experiences and perspectives come into the room with us. More importantly, they inform how deeply committed I am to helping you sit with your own uncertainty, to recognize its value, and to use it as a starting point for moving toward your own internal wisdom. Creative expression is a big part of life outside the therapy room. Writing, watercolors, and pottery are longtime passions, and languages are another, always learning, always looking for opportunities to connect across cultures. Traveling and trying new foods (and then attempting to recreate them at home) bring a lot of joy, as does time spent with my cat, Ernie.

Healing and growth takes place in the context of relationships - in our relationship with ourselves, and in our relationships with others. Unfortunately, our relationships can sometimes become distant, disconnected and a place of conflict, leaving us with unmet needs and just feeling “stuck.” We don’t feel safe asking for what we need, and maybe don’t even know what we need ourselves. The therapeutic relationship in counseling provides an authentic and safe place in which healing can begin to take place. My goal is to provide you with a space where you feel seen and heard; where you feel safe to explore your story and your experiences; a space where you can work through some of the hard things in a way that moves you towards a deeper sense of wholeness and connection. If you'd like to find out if this is a good place for you to address some of these things for yourself, reach out and we can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if it would be a good fit!
