Therapists for college students near University of Minnesota
At different times in one's life, painful feelings such as anxiety, depression or low self-esteem may be present. Life stressors, complicated interpersonal relationships and more can overpower one's coping resources. At this time, seeking help in the form of therapy can be beneficial. Are you interested in moving beyond feelings of sadness and worry? Are you looking to create more meaningful relationships in your life? Are you seeking more meaning and purpose in your life? If so, counseling can be helpful in starting on this journey. I view therapy as a collaborative endeavor and work to create a warm and supportive space in which my clients feel safe to explore difficult concerns. I bring engaged listening, thoughtful questions and an outside perspective to the therapeutic relationship. I work with my clients to identify hopes and goals for the process of therapy. Based on these identified goals, I choose tools and techniques that I believe would be beneficial. I bring a humanistic/client-centered orientation to therapy and incorporate mind-body, interpersonal and cognitive-behavioral approaches in my work.
Hello and welcome, Given the current climate of our world, many people are experiencing daily stress. Reaching out for support can be helpful, supportive, and useful. It can also provide a space for us to connect with and heal our concerns. I work to create a healthy space and relationship for you to express yourself without fear of judgement. Together we will understand your situation and work together to help you move into a more peaceful and confident way of being.
If you're here because your past traumas are creeping up on you, what you show the world doesn't align with what's on the inside, or your anxiety/depression has depleted you---I want to work with you. You might be someone who has a hard time asking for help, so the fact that you're even thinking about getting it is a big step. You don't have to keep feeling the way you are. Sometimes, we just need a therapist to guide us along our path to feeling better. I want you to feel equipped to handle life’s ever-changing ups and downs, and to be able to do it with a sense of purpose, stability, and self-awareness. I work best with clients who are young professionals (in their 20's-30's) or youth (10 and up). They're ready for real change. Clients who are a good fit for me might come to therapy because they have a hard time calming down, feel trapped by their traumas, struggle with perfectionism, or are just feeling like something is missing in their lives. My style of therapy is warm and nonjudgmental. We'll come together to look at how the present is intertwined with your past, and find ways that work for you to cope. When it comes to trauma, I don't believe you need to even fully remember it to heal from it. If you need help but don't know what questions to ask, that's ok! Reach out for a free consultation.
Now accepting new clients! Are you navigating the ups and downs of life, struggling with the transition to school, seeking healing from loss or trauma, or striving for better control over alcohol or substance use? I specialize in trauma and addiction therapy, with training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to address these challenges effectively. In addition to trauma and addiction, I work with clients facing a range of mental health concerns, including relationship issues, life transitions, daily stressors, anxiety/overwhelm, depression, and self-worth. My approach is tailored to each individual's needs, focusing on building effective coping skills and fostering personal growth. I have over 12 years of experience working with adolescents and adults. In our sessions, you can expect a supportive environment where your voice is heard, your experiences are validated, and your path to healing is respected. I employ a mind and body approach, recognizing that true healing often involves addressing multiple aspects of our well-being. If you’re ready to take the first step toward recovery and resilience, I am here to help guide you through that journey. Reach out by phone or email to begin a conversation about how we can work together to achieve your goals. If the times listed don't work, please reach out, as I may have availability elsewhere in my schedule.
Hello! My practice is focused on complex, chronic mental health challenges, especially borderline personality and chronic depression (dysthymia). The clients I work with often grapple with isolation, mood instability, a nagging sense of emptiness, and recurring relationship struggles. Substance use may be present, but is rarely the core issue. Many have tried therapy before, and have perhaps found some benefit, but remain skeptical about whether it can truly bring the change they seek. My goal is to help you identify deep patterns that have subtly narrowed your options in life, challenge and overcome these patterns, connect more easily with others, and generally feel more at home in the world. I have been fortunate enough to train in mentalization-based treatment and schema therapy, both of which have been recognized as evidence-based treatments for complex, chronic mental health problems. I work to provide a safe, supportive, and inquisitive environment in which you can share your experiences, feel heard, and try out new ways of understanding yourself and relating to others.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 10 years of experience working in the field. For the past 7 years I have been working at a college campus in Minnesota focusing on working with BIPOC students. I have worked in various community settings as well as private practice. I have worked with individuals struggling with adjustment and mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety. You've perfected the art of seeming like you have it all together, but on the inside it feels like things are falling apart. You're dealing with a lot of stress, your worry keeps you up at night, and you have difficulties saying nice things to yourself. You have big dreams and life goals, but somehow you can't quite keep up with day-to-day demands. Outside influences and pressures are bringing you down, you find yourself procrastinating on important tasks, and avoidance has become your go-to coping mechanism. Your anxiety is getting in the way of your happiness and you're tired of feeling stressed, anxious or burned out. There’s not a one-size-fits-all approach to healing. The models I pull from are dependent upon your unique needs and healing process. My clients appreciate my warm and inviting, yet direct approach. I am an active participant in your therapy and I will not tip-toe around your challenges. Your time is valuable and I want you to get the most out of therapy. You deserve to take care of yourself with the unconditional support of someone who is trained to help you navigate through these difficult times. When you’re ready, I invite you to connect with me. I offer a free 15-minute phone or video consultation so you can get a feel for whether I'm a good fit for you. I'd love to hear from you!
I specialize in helping individuals recovery from eating disorders, disordered eating, compulsive/obligatory exercise, body image distress and associated anxiety and depression. I practice virtually in Colorado so accessing counseling is flexible and convenient. I understand the challenges of academic rigor at Mines and have worked with many Mines students -undergrad and grad. Fun fact: I majored in Chemistry and decided in the end I was more interested in people than molecules. I've been supporting people in eating recovery for over a decade. My clients tend to find me approachable, non-judgmental, and action oriented.

Hi, I'm Courtney. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in relationship issues, self-esteem and communication. I'm about helping you discover your true self so you are more confident and self-assured so you're able to thrive in relationships with everyone around you. In session, we'll learn how past behaviors, traumas, and relationships influence your current situation. We'll increase your insight into your own personality and how it aligns (or doesn't) with your partners. We'll dive deep into your own expectations of others, and how it influences your choices. We'll increase your communication skills, specifically focusing on being more open and assertive. We'll make sure your relationships with family, friends, and partners are equal by decreasing your people-pleasing tendencies and increasing boundaries.
Hey--I'm Julie. I offer therapy that focuses on what matters to you and making changes that matter to you. Whether you're a queer or trans person fighting to be seen & heard on your terms, or in a relationship hijacked by conflict & pain, or your struggling to keep up with *all the things*, I can help. My specialty is asking questions that open pathways to your preferred tomorrow. I don't do lengthy and intrusive "intakes." I'm ready for the conversation you want to have. I'm also a professor--I teach at the University of Minnesota in the Youth Studies program. I know how sucky & stressful it is to juggle school w/other responsibilities. I know that some of you may be: precariously housed; living with food insecurity; facing the violence of racism, homo-and transphobia, white nationalist threats, sexism, and other oppressive systems; and/or squeaking by on poverty wages. That's all stuff that f*cks with you and we can find ways together to stand up and reclaim your life. Read more at my website, www.2stories.com, or give me a call/shoot me an email and I'll be happy to answer your questions about meeting together. In solidarity, Julie
