About Many of us go through life with low self-esteem believing that we're not enough, less than, or undeserving of any good thing. We wonder why good things don't happen for us, or why we can't have healthy relationships like others do. We feel guilt and shame for the things we've done (or not done) and we don't know how to believe in ourselves anymore. I am here to help you through these unhealthy beliefs and help you rediscover your true worth and purpose in this life. I believe in using a collaborative approach in helping my clients. I use evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Motivational Therapy. I also use my Christian counseling experiences I am supportive, yet direct with empathy, compassion and help you address the barriers in their life that are causing you pain and distress. I started my education later in my adult life, and believed I had arrived late to the game. But I found that life experience paired with my own belief system, allowed me the opportunity to view life's challenges through a unique lens, and because of that I am non-judgmental and empathetic towards people who are struggling with the hurts life has dealt them.

Does life feel overwhelming in a way that’s hard to explain? Maybe your brain never slows down, or focusing feels impossible. Maybe you feel deeply but struggle to put it into words. My approach is affirming, collaborative, and tailored to you. We’ll move at your pace, exploring strategies to help you feel more in control, more connected, and more at home in yourself. If you feel like you’re feeling the pressure of what’s next, stop scrolling because trust…you’re in the right place. College is supposed to be an exciting experience but for a lot of students, it feels like: • “I’m behind.” • “Everyone else has it figured out.” • “I’m stressed all the time.” • “I don’t even know what I’m doing here.” If that’s you, I can assure that you’re not broken. You have reached your emotional capacity, feel overwhelmed, and you don’t have to carry that alone. At ThrivePath, we help students slow down, feel safer in their own bodies and minds, and learn how to move through life from alignment, not survival mode. This is therapy and support that feels: ✨ supportive ✨ honest ✨ culturally-aware ✨ and actually helpful No “fix yourself” energy here. At ThrivePath, our energy reads more like “let’s figure this out together.”

Our experiences in this world, often based on identities or trauma, can leave us feeling stressed and uncertain. It's confusing to have your worries get in the way of making the connections with people that you long for; or to be so convinced you will fail that it's hard to take the first step in doing the next thing you want to do; or to be suddenly totally overwhelmed in the middle of this exciting new experience you'd been waiting for. Sometimes people need some help slowing down, reconnecting with themselves, and finding new ways to respond so that they can move forward with hope, self-compassion, and empowerment. I have spent many years working in college mental health, helping students from all identities and backgrounds navigate the growth and challenge of the college experience. My approach is collaborative. Together we figure out what's getting in the way for you. I'll be with you in the hard moments, naming and exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences so that you can find ways to respond to them that are helpful. Increased connection with your body is key. Let's also celebrate the wins, big and small, along the way. Finding a therapist that is a good fit is so important—if you're not comfortable enough to tell your therapist what's really going on, therapy won't work. Let's find a time to connect to see if I would be a good fit for you in your next step.

Andrea Garraway Counseling PLLC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Charlotte, NC

I am Dr. Garraway. I am a helper and I have a knack for finding remote and unexpected places to reinvigorate in touch. One secret of success is always being myself, colloquial, informal, and humorous. While evidence-based, I counsel from the familiar, practical, and everyday examples. My practice is 100% remote but still 100% warm, compassionate, and human. Here you will find a mental health psychotherapist, who specializes in substance-use treatment for adults and couples. I teach you how to listen to and honor the various parts of yourself that seek a voice, whether that be a thought, feeling, or observation, while challenging self-limiting beliefs, using a kind and loving approach that is transferable to other life challenges.

I am committed to providing Neuro- and LGBTQ+ affirming therapy on your terms and to meet you where you are. You’re already doing something hard just by being here. Reaching out for support isn’t easy—especially when life feels overwhelming and everything inside you feels tangled. It’s not just one thing. It’s everything. Confusion, stress, heartbreak, fear, loneliness, sadness, anger—sometimes all at once. And when you’ve been through difficult experiences, it makes sense that this has become your normal. But you’re tired of pretending you’re okay. Tired of holding it all together while quietly falling apart. When was the last time you felt present in your own life? Confident in who you are? Or even just able to slow down and take care of yourself without guilt? What if you didn’t have to keep pushing your feelings down or hiding from them? What if you could actually understand them—and feel more at ease in your own mind and body? I specialize in working with young women who feel overwhelmed by life, relationships, and their own thoughts—often shaped by both past and present pain. Together, we create space to process what you’ve been carrying so you can find clarity, steadiness, and a stronger sense of yourself again.

I am a cancer survivor, an active duty military spouse, and a child of grief after losing my father at a young age to addiction. Building resilience and fostering hope is not just something that I practice professionally, I have lived it. These experiences combined with my clinical background have given me a unique perspective on healing. I value the realness of showing up as yourself in and out of the therapy room. When I am not wearing my therapist “hat” you can find me at the movies, cuddled up on the couch with my two fur babies, or in the kitchen. I am a serious foodie, dog mama, bookworm, Bravo-binge-watcher, coffee fiend, and yes….I am a millennial. I love to paint, listen to 90s country, decorate for the holidays, and travel (when I can!).
