Hale Counseling NW provides warm, relational therapy for college students navigating anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, ADHD, identity questions, relationship struggles, family conflict, and major life transitions. College can bring a lot to the surface: academic pressure, loneliness, perfectionism, burnout, changing family dynamics, dating challenges, friendship issues, and uncertainty about the future. We also offer low-cost therapy with graduate student interns for students looking for affordable care.
Hello there! I believe everyone has the ability to live a balanced and fulfilling life and, inevitably, changes can throw us off balance. I look forward to working collaboratively with you to set therapy goals to improve relationships, make difficult decisions, make emotional adjustments, and feel more confident. I enjoy helping adults embrace who they are to gain clarity, improve relationships, cope with stress, and regain a sense of well-being. I place a high value on a therapeutic, non-judgmental relationship centered around deep listening. Although growth in therapy can be hard work, the process should also be inspirational and enjoyable. We are living in a world full of change. A therapeutic process that integrates the mind, emotions, spirit, and body is relevant. I will help you rediscover your unique life vision and capitalize on your strengths in order to find your way to wellness and wholeness.
I have experience working with young adults for the past 12 years in both education and therapy settings. I provide mental health and substance use counseling with the goal of helping you better understand yourself, what you need, and how to make that possible.
Do you often feel misunderstood and hurt? Do you feel as though your emotions are controlling you and you don’t know what to do to change that? Does it leave you feeling anxious and depressed? I know what that feels like and I can help with that. My Approach to Helping I believe that people are doing the best they can with the information and skills they currently have. I also believe that they can grow and create better lives for themselves with the appropriate support. My approach to helping clients develop the skills to effectively identify, regulate and communicate their emotions, needs and boundaries to others is validating and skills-based. Therapy with me is relational, non-judgmental, body positive, sex positive and LGBTQ+ and poly competent. My Personal Beliefs and Interests I'm a psychologist and certified alcohol and drug counselor. I have a background in research (on behavior change) and loved working in academia for a long time, before transitioning to working in community mental health for a few years. I love being a therapist. I am also a mother and an immigrant with strong progressive values and I bring that to the table as well. I believe that Black Lives Matter and that community action is more powerful than waiting for government to act in our best interest. I bring this perspective to my work.

Hi! I'm Dana. I help clients who struggle with anxiety, shame, perfectionism, or a harsh inner critic to find greater peace, self-compassion and healthier boundaries and relationships. College and early adulthood can be hard - figuring out who you are, who you want to be, how to manage the stress of school, new careers, relationships, living away from home, and adulting. In addition to my education and experience as a counselor, I have a master’s in higher education and 12 years of experience working with college students on college campus, with a focus on supporting international students. I have the background and knowledge to help you feel grounded and equipped to navigate your college experience. I would be honored to walk alongside you as we work together to help you feel less stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious. I want to support you as you gain insight and develop skills that will help you to have better days ahead. You don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to help. Check out my website to learn more and to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit.

After working in the mental health field for nearly 15 years, specifically in crisis intervention, I set out on a new path to work with people before life becomes unbearable. Most recently, I served as a high school mental health counselor. Flexibility and openness are two of my core values. Do you know what you value? Understanding what we care about most and what brings meaning to our lives is essential to living with intention and living well. I believe therapy is about exploring these values along with memories, current circumstances, and feelings in order to help the present-self move forward. Too often we drift through our days without asking for the support we need because it can feel as though we are not worthy of that focus. Please know that you are worthy of that focus because once you do, positive change and growth are not only possible, but inevitable. My passion is to center each person I work with and learn how they experience the world around them. My background thus far has been working with youth and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidal ideation, identity issues, self-harm, and school frustration. I hold a bachelor's degree in Spanish and a masters in social work (MSW) from Portland State University. Outside of my work, I love to run, play video games, and have always been into playing/watching sports. There is no song I wouldn't try to karaoke even though I'm, like, an objectively bad singer.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in East Portland. Perhaps you are seeking therapy because you are unhappy with something in your life. Your happiness is important and I believe it's possible to feel more joy. Therapy can feel like a scary step, but you are worth the risk. Therapy is a place where you get to talk to someone who is non-judgmental and nurturing and who can offer you a more objective perspective on how to make the changes in your life that you desire. I view therapy as a collaboration, an exchange where we work together to reach your goals. Reach out to me for more information or to see if we would be a good fit. Fiona supports college students in navigating the pressure to “have it all figured out” by helping them explore life and career goals at their own pace. Fiona understands how Asian American culture can shape identity, self-esteem, and relationships. She supports students in navigating dynamics with parents, peers, and romantic partners, while building communication skills and learning to set boundaries without guilt.
