Hi there! My name is Camari Claiborne-Scott and I would like to commend you on taking the first step towards your healing journey. Are you struggling with managing anxiety, depression, stress, or major transitions in your life? I like to take a collaborative approach as I truly believe that you are the only person who has overcome your experiences and understands how they have impacted you. If you're here, part of you is ready for something to change. You might be dealing with anxiety that won't let up, burnout from trying to keep up with everything on your plate, or motivation that seems to have disappeared right when you need it most. Or maybe you're someone who feels things intensely, or struggles to start tasks and follow through. Some days it might feel like you're managing everyone else's expectations more than your own. I work with college and graduate students, especially women, who are navigating these kinds of challenges alongside the pressures of school. Many of my clients are highly sensitive or neurodivergent, or are starting to wonder if they might be. I also work with students carrying attachment wounds, old patterns from family or past relationships that keep showing up in new relationships, whether with friends, partners, or roommates. I have experience working with students adjusting to a new environment, whether that's the transition into college life, a new culture, or being far from home for the first time. If you're Spanish-speaking or navigating life between cultures, I offer sessions in Spanish and bring real understanding of that experience into our work together. My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps you get to know the different parts of yourself, like the part that worries, the part that pushes you to keep going no matter what, or the part that shuts down when things feel like too much. You don't have to have it all figured out to reach out. Together, we work with these parts with curiosity and compassion, so you can feel calmer, more confident, and more like yourself.
Working with me means gaining practical coping skills and tools you can start using right away. I rely on my background in psychology to implement cognitive and behavioral changes. I use scientifically supported methods like CBT, DBT, exposure, and mindfulness skills to create real, lasting changes. Our sessions will go beyond exploration and reflection — therapy with me is not 'just talking.' It feels great to vent, but it feels even better to have a path forward. I will gently confront and challenge you when I notice you might be holding yourself back. We all have a tendency to lean into old patterns and unproductive coping skills, especially when it’s all you know. I’m here to hold you accountable and help you grow in a supportive, respectful, and nonjudgmental way.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 14 years of combined experience in mental health and career development services. I have served as a member of the North Carolina Society for Clinical Social Work since 2017. My direct practice experience began as an employment counselor providing support and counseling to individuals experiencing transitions in employment. Over the last four years, I’ve practiced as a licensed mental health therapist providing office based and in-home outpatient therapy to individuals and families in rural counties of North Carolina. Building rapport and understanding the needs of my clients are attributes tied closely to my professional values. I will partner with you to assist you in meeting your personal and professional goals. I will be your advocate. My ideal clients are adults ages 18 to 45. I provide both individual and couples counseling. My primary treatment modalities are Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused Therapy. If you’d like to meet to determine if we are a good fit, request a virtual appointment to receive a 15-minute complimentary consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.
As a counselor, my professional identity is one of authenticity, curiosity, and empathy. I care deeply about helping my clients improve their lives. I believe that starts with the two of us forming a genuine connection so that I can best understand your personality, your worldview, and the problems you are facing – the world can be a tough place and we all have times when we could use someone to listen and understand us. I will repeatedly check in with you to assess your goals for therapy and make sure that we are making progress towards meeting those goals. In our sessions, I will use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and reduce the types of thinking that can lead to negative emotions. I will also incorporate other techniques such as mindfulness meditation that many clients find useful. Together, we will work as a team to confront the issues that are troubling you. I received my BS in Biology from Duke University and my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. I've also been a research assistant in Princeton University's departments of social psychology and neuroscience. I try to stay up to date with current research and use only empirically validated modalities with my clients.

College is supposed to be an exciting time, but sometimes it feels like you’re just trying to keep your head above water. Between classes, friendships, relationships, family expectations, work, and trying to figure out what you actually want for your future, it can be a lot. At Haven House Counseling Collective, we work with college students who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, stuck, or unsure of themselves. Maybe you’re constantly stressed, putting a lot of pressure on yourself, struggling with confidence, comparing yourself to everyone around you, or trying to balance everyone else’s expectations while figuring out your own. Therapy can be a space where you don’t have to have it all together. We’ll work together to better understand what you’re feeling, manage the stress and anxiety that comes with life, build confidence, set healthier boundaries, and navigate relationships and life transitions in a way that feels right for you. You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. Sometimes you just need a place to talk things out with someone who gets it. If you’re ready to feel less overwhelmed and more like yourself again, we’d love to help.
I enjoy helping to support people as they navigate through the many different waves of life. I help to create a warm, non judgmental, and supportive environment where clients are free to talk about their stories. I draw from a number of different treatment modalities, but most importantly, meet the client where they are at. While each individual's experience is unique, I regularly work with clients around topics related to anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, relationship concerns, sexuality, ADHD, life's transitions, familial conflict and many more. In this busy world, it can be difficult to make time to focus on your needs. Therapy provides a space to do so and share your story in a safe and non judgmental environment. Sessions are a time to practice self care, utilize your strengths, and develop tools that help you gain a better understanding of you. I would love to have the chance to work with you and hear your story. Currently, sessions are teletherapy based allowing you more flexibility to be in a familiar setting and join from any mobile or desktop device. I would love to help you with the process of learning more about you and develop the tools to navigate the many waves of life.
