There ISN’T anything “wrong” with you, you are human and you have lived experiences, some harder than others, but that is where working together to understand those parts of yourself can help! Life can be unpredictable, and at times, deeply challenging. But within each of us lies a quiet strength — Resilience. It's not about avoiding struggle, but about finding the courage to face it, adapt, and grow. In this space, we honor your story, your challenges, and your capacity to heal. Whether you're just beginning your journey or continuing along the path, we're here to walk with you — helping you reconnect with your resilience, one step at a time. At the heart of this work is a deep commitment to equity, justice, and collective healing. This is a space where all identities are seen, respected, and celebrated — where your full humanity is never up for debate. I practice from an anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and decolonized lens, acknowledging the ways systemic oppression, intergenerational trauma, and cultural erasure impact our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Healing does not happen in isolation — it happens in relationship, in context, and in community.

Araceli is trained in both Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), evidence-based approaches that help people better understand and work with chronic conditions such as chronic (unexplained) pain, anxiety, migraines, dizziness/vertigo, IBS, tinnitus, fatigue, brain fog and other stress-related symptoms. These therapies help patients relate to symptoms in a new way—by reducing fear, strengthening the mind-body connection, processing difficult emotions, and helping the brain “unlearn” the patterns that keep symptoms stuck. Araceli’s work focuses on supporting individuals living with chronic conditions to feel safer in their bodies, more emotionally connected, and more empowered in their healing.

Hello, I am Dr. Amanda de Armas, a clinical psychologist who provides individual based virtual sessions to young adults. I hold a license in Florida and Texas. I am also PsyPact certified to seeing clients and families across 39 states. I know that taking your new next steps takes some time. It is just as important finding a great college and education as well as managing your physical and mental health. It can also sometimes be challenging to manage the study, work, tests, and life adjustments. I personally have enjoyed my undergraduate and graduate studies throughout the years, but I have also had some challenges and mental burnouts with it too. You aren't alone when making a new life transition, and I am here to support the emotional thoughts, feelings, and even tough decisions you have to make for your future. I help students manage depression, anxiety, anger, adjustments, and life transitions. I also provide therapies that direct towards helping with lack of concentration, time management, performance anxiety, stress, and even learning how to establish healthy assertive communication skills with family, professors, and peers. I want to be a guide during your upcoming years as you are growing and navigating through your own professional and career experiences. I do have other prior experiences working with young adults managing difficult cultural adjustments when living in a new settings. Just know, that I am here for you and want to listen, as well as provide a safe virtual space for you to share the successes and challenges you face. I do provide individual and even family virtual sessions in both English and Spanish languages. I also offer a short free phone or video call consultation in case you are not ready to book with me yet. If you have any other questions or would like to know more about my therapy services, feel free to email, call, or check out my website. I help college and graduate students who look like they’re doing fine—but feel constantly overwhelmed, anxious, and exhausted—learn how to calm their nervous system and regain confidence. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or emotionally drained, even if you’re not sure exactly why. You might be dealing with anxiety, feeling stuck or disconnected, struggling with motivation, or carrying experiences from your past that still affect you today. Many students I work with are trying their best, care deeply, and just need a space where they don’t have to hold everything together. If you’re looking for someone who will listen with care, meet you where you are, and help you make sense of what you’re feeling, you’re in the right place. Our work together is collaborative and supportive, with a focus on helping you feel grounded, understood, and more confident navigating daily life. I also support students who are healing from difficult family experiences, spiritual or religious harm, or other painful experiences. These can shape how you see yourself and your relationships, and it’s okay if you’re still figuring things out. Reaching out can feel like a big step, especially if you’re unsure what to say or where to start. We can take things at your pace. If any part of this resonates with you, I’d be happy to connect and see if working together feels like a good fit.

Heather loves to help her clients achieve the goals they set for themselves. She works hard to create a warm, relaxing and open minded environment for her clients to work. Heather has experience helping families meet each other where they are and improving the relationships; helping those struggling with addictions and how to work through the process; helping those with stress/depression/grief/school/relationship and work struggles are some examples of the type of clients Heather helps. She can help guide her clients to the goals they set and live the life they want and deserve. Heather understands that life can throw curve balls to all and wants to do what she can to help you from where you are. Heather helps based on what the client or clients are looking for. She will always have a plan for your sessions, but truly wants her clients to have a voice in how they work through whatever issues are at hand. When Heather is not working, she loves to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys being outside, road trips, being on the water somewhere, building her faith and finding a good spot to read a book. Heather cannot wait to help you achieve the goals you have and would love to talk with you further about how she can assist you.

Let's be real. Anxiety is a b!tch. You know the kind I mean. Heart racing, chest tight, skin crawling, lying awake at 3am when you have to be up at 6. The kind that doesn't care how put-together you look on the outside. Most of my clients grew up in environments where they had to stay on guard just to get through the day. Emotionally unsafe, physically unsafe, or both. They learned early that keeping quiet, going along with things, and making themselves small was the smartest way to avoid getting hurt. And it worked, for a while. The problem is, survival strategies don't just turn off. So now you're people-pleasing in relationships you're not happy in. Biting your tongue when you should be speaking up. Telling yourself "it's fine" when it's really, really not. You know that voice in your head that says I should be over this by now? That's not clarity. That's the trauma talking. Here's what I see in my clients before they start working with me: they're exhausted. Not tired, exhausted. Drained by the constant hum of worry. Distant from the people they care about. Too spent to return a text, too anxious to be present, too guarded to actually rest. They carry it all in their chest like a weight they've stopped noticing because it's been there so long. You deserve something different. Not "managed" anxiety. Not white-knuckling your way through the week. Actually different. Setting your own terms. Saying no without a three-paragraph apology. Showing up in your relationships without shrinking. Feeling okay in your own skin without needing someone else's approval first. If you want to ditch the anxiety, break out of people-pleasing, and finally start living on your own terms, I'd love to help you get there.

About Me / Specialties I am a licensed psychologist specializing in treating adolescents and young adults with OCD, anxiety (including social anxiety, panic, phobias, and generalized anxiety), and related conditions such as body dysmorphic disorder, trichotillomania, tics, and excoriation disorder. I provide evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I see clients in-person in Cambridge, MA and virtually throughout Massachusetts and Texas. I also work with parents, offering coaching to help support their teen or young adult while reducing family accommodations. My goal is to create a compassionate, collaborative space where we take mental health seriously—but not ourselves too seriously. A little humor can go a long way in therapy! Treatment Approach I tailor treatment to each individual, often addressing co-occurring concerns like depression, eating issues, or trauma alongside anxiety or OCD. Using ERP, CBT, ACT, and DBT strategies, I help students manage symptoms, regulate emotions, and make meaningful, lasting changes—all in a supportive and approachable way. Training & Experience I earned my PhD from the University of Virginia, completed my clinical internship at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for OCD and Related Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where I currently see therapy patients and conduct research on OCD spectrum disorders.
